Saddle Mountain Valley Ride
Summary: 3.6 miles - up and down - about 1h - Google Map for this horseback trail

Altitude Profile Saddle Mountain Valley Ride (400ft up/down)
This is a very nice short trail ride that I did not know existed until recently when John showed it to us. It has quite some uphill section that invite to let your horse canter. The only unpleasant parts are the two underpasses on 280 and the stretch along Arastradero until you hit Stirrup Way - there is lots of noises and scarry things for the horses, as well as lots of traffic, from cars to many bicycles.

Saddle Mountain Valley
Out through the back gate on the mare pasture this ride goes along Arastradero to the Stirrup Way, continues on after the dead end onto a trail in the field where we reach Saddle Mountain Valley (not really sure if that is the real name ...). Anyway, here we run up the valley almost to the top before turning right underneath the white house reaching Saddle Ct. Continue on to the end of Saddle Mountain Rd and take the trail to Elena. From there it is back down underneath 280 to Purissima and down to Arastradero and the ranch. As an alternative, instead of getting in at the back gate, take the loop around to the front gate. Some more picture and trail description can be found in the Gallery.
